EOS M 300-4 AR-Dashboard
short DESCRIPTION
Proof of concept for an AR-based system dashboard as part of collaboration with innovation department at EOS.
Tools used
Unity 3D, Unity MARS, Vuforia PTC, Blender, Microsoft Hololens, Spatial Anchors (Microsoft Azure), EOSCONNECT (Microsoft IIS).

Being all about innovations EOS is always on the lookout for new features for the 3D printing systems. This time we have decided to take a step away from physical displays and stream real-time data from the system straight into mixed reality. The dashboard displays system's key figures such as CO2 concentration, filter pressure, build platform temperature etc. Those figures are to be monitored throughout the entire building process to eliminate the risk of job failure (bulding process crush) and ensure the high quality of the part. Results: the project got approved and its development continues: next step implementing dashboards for all systems for customer showroom tours to showcase the concept.
It is also important to mention that xR again demonstrated further promising outlook as we identified potential cost reduction in the system design itself - the process chamber window enables its service technician to monitor the process visually at any given moment. However, the materials used for the process chamber window are costly. As EOS M-systems already have integrated internal process chamber cameras to monitor each layer in the building process for post hoc analisys, we came up with an idea to live-stream building process straight into the AR-dashboard to illiminate the need of having the window, but still enabling the service technicians monitor the process live. Project files upon request.
